New to BBC
As someone who is new to Bible Baptist Church, you probably have a lot of questions. What should I expect when I come to a Morning Service? What programs are in place for my children? What should I wear? What version of the Bible do you use? Should I expect someone to call me if I fill out a visitor’s card?
We understand. We were all new to BBC at one time, too.
We hope this page provides some answers to your questions. If you have more questions and you do not see the answers below, please call or email. (Ph. 207.284.7338 or firstname.lastname@example.org) We would love to help!
What is your Morning Service like?
Our worship service begins at 10:45 am and ends approximately at noon each Sunday. We sing both the historical hymns of the faith and many of the modern choruses that are sung in evangelical churches all over the country. We have a praise team which leads most of the singing.
Our pastor preaches expository sermons from Scripture (this means that he concentrates on one portion of Scripture for his sermon and draws out the meaning of the text).
What should I wear?
We want you to feel comfortable. You will see that there is a variety of attire amongst the people here.
What do you have for my children?
On Sunday mornings (at 9:30 am), we have Sunday School for all ages including classes for your children. There are classes based on the age or grade of your child and staffed by teachers who are all experienced in teaching children.
During the worship service, we have a fully-staffed nursery (just off Fellowship Hall in the lower portion of the building) for babies and toddlers up to age 3.
If you have children who are 4 years old through age 10, they may join you in the worship service until just before the sermon. If you would like them to go to their own class in Little Church, you may escort them downstairs. If your child does not want to attend, that is fine. Many children are perfectly happy to stay with their family.
Am I expected to give to your offering?
We do take an offering during our worship service each Sunday. We believe that this is just one more way that we worship God. We cheerfully give back a portion of what He has so richly blessed us! These funds go to supporting the work of the Lord at BBC and in other ministries both in Maine and around the world. We do not expect visitors to give but if you want to, you may.
What version of the Bible do you use?
Our pew Bibles are the New American Standard Version and that is the version from which our pastor preaches. Many in our congregation carry their own Bibles to church and they may have a King James Version or a New International Version. If you don’t own a Bible of your own, please speak to one of our ushers or greeters. They would be happy to provide you with one.
What happens when I fill out visitor’s information?
There is a tab in the bulletin you may fill out with your information. These forms may be placed in the offering plate as it comes around. We keep a record of your visit. We do not arrive at your door without an invitation. If you do want someone to contact you, we will make a call or send an email if you have provided that information to us. You are always welcome to call the church office and ask for more information or to speak to our pastor.
